Making your house dust free can seem like an impossible task and in fact that’s true. Dust is present in even the cleanest of homes, and the majority of indoor dust actually comes from tracked-in soil and outdoor air particles, which means it can contain trace amounts of arsenic, lead, and other poisonous substances. Did you know that other substances that are typically found in dust include dead skin cells, carpet fibers, and pet dander. Dust mites and their waste products are also mixed in with the dust, and those waste products can be culprit to allergic reactions.
Now, all that dust is stirred up whenever you vacuum, walk on a carpet or even make the bed. In addition, forced-air heating systems, which distribute heat throughout your home via ductwork and vents, tend to blow dust into the air.

A Solution

Fortunately, there are some simple things you can do to reduce the amount of allergens in the air. If you frequently wash your bedding and clean all the surfaces in your home on a regular basis, you can go a long way toward reducing potential allergens in the air. Clearing out any extra clutter and keeping items stored under beds and in closets in sealed containers can also go a long way in helping keep the dust in your home to a minimum. In the long-term, you might also consider replacing carpets, which can hide dust, with wood or tile floors.

Another thing that you can do to make a help reduce the amount of allergens in the air is to schedule periodic air duct cleanings with ABC Cleaning, Inc. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends that air-handler units be inspected at least annually and cleaned as needed. Our trained technicians will inspect each air duct, opening all access panels and then bring in the necessary equipment to address your cleaning needs, including brushes and vacuum equipment specially designed to remove ductwork debris. In addition to cleaning supply ducts, return ducts, air vents, and diffusers, your system will also undergo routine cleaning and maintenance as well, addressing system components such as your heat exchanger, coils, drain pan, fan motor and housing, and system housing. This ensures thorough cleaning results as well as the smooth and efficient operation. In all cases of duct cleaning, it is also necessary to address the source of the dirty air duct to prevent recurrence, including moisture, water, dust, debris, pest contamination, and other pollutants.
